COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM  (C.E.R.T)
educates  volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area. C.E.R.T also trains them in basic disaster response skills and shelter management. Also, fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster

medical operations.

Through C.E.R.T, the capabilities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters is built and enhanced. C.E.R.T originally formed from citizen corps. C.E.R.T volunteers are trained to respond safely and effectively to emergency situations, but also support non-emergency communities. There are more than 600,000 individuals trained since C.E.R.T has become

a national program.
